Sometimes there are shows that I do not like for one reason, but simultaneously like for some other reason. That leads to a conflict between these reasons. Sometimes I drop such shows and other time persevere and keep watching.
In the past there was a number of shows that match just that experience.
Mawaru Penguindrum for example, I did not like characters or the setting, but I liked story and music a lot.
Music can be downloaded separately, but the story was of particular importance to me. I wanted to make sure I do not miss any plot twists so that I will not miss any details, crucial to understanding the plot. Shows like that are like jigsaw puzzle: one missed plot detail might prevent you from getting the whole idea.
However, trying not to miss any details of the plot also meant suffering thorough moments where characters are at their worst.
Infinite Ryvius also had a number of unpleasant moments, but less than Penguindrum and not as consistent at that. Just like with Penguindrum a story was of paramount importance.
Redo of the Healer too had plenty of unpleasant moments, especially in the beginning. But story was not as important here, so I just skipped parts that I did not like.
