.hack//Legend of The Twilight Review

Overall Rating 6.8 out of 10 - Solid Good Show with only one noticeable flaw.

I recommend watching.

Legend of The Twilight is a much less ambitious show, compared to its bigger predecessor: .hack//Sign. Unlike the latter, Legend of The Twilight does not try to delve into psychology or philosophy of gamers or nihilists. This is just a simple shounen story. However, it is well made one.

It uses the same World, same art style and even some of the characters from the original. A clear spinoff series. It you want more of The World, then this is go-to show.

Shugo and Rena are likable enough, so is most of the support cast. Mirelle, priest girl and Ohka are all cute. Some characters are much shorter than the rest, I am not sure if that was supposed to imply that they are children or simply some chibi size race, like Gnomes from WoW.

This time story revolves around modified monsters and corrupter AI that wants to make players experience death. Story progresses much in the same way as in original even if there is a different opponent with different motivations.

One bad thing about it are Cerulean Knights and their leader, they are mean and vile version of the Crimsom Knights of the original. However, these knights are not so much following any principles, so much simply enjoy abusing players, using game rules as excuse. Even leader of the Crimsom Knighs actually fought against the Cerulean Knights, condemning their ways. Sure, show needs meaningful protagonists, but they went overboard showcasing Cerulean Knights wanton reign of terror.

Overall, however it is a good show I can recommend watching it. You can skip episode 8 and may be also 7 and 9, to avoid worst of Cerulean Knights.
