On Reasons for Lucy's Cruelty in Elfen Lied

I do not think system is even willing to pardon her.

And it's system's fault.

They see her as partly a threat to contain or exterminate. Partly as a guinea pig for experiments.

It is a realization of that fact due to countless life experiences with cruel people actually made her this cruel herself.

If you pay attention they you can notice that both Kurama and that shooter guy Bando do not even treat her like a person, but rather as some sort of beast to hunt down and prey on.

She even asked Bando if it is fun to hurt her like that.

It is they and kids from orphanage who are real monsters who refuse to consider her human just because she is somewhat different.

That is the real meaning of this show.

Lucy deserves a lot more compassion than Kurama, Bando or Kurama's old boss. They are the monsters.

Reaper's Due

I often talk about overpopulation problem.

Despite what some naive and starry eyed 'moral' people want to believe, there is not enough food and other recourses on this planet to feed, clothe and house everyone.

Surely the so called Second Agricultural Revolution Green Revolution - Wikipedia allowed the world to go without major wars since WW II and its population to increase. However now we have reached the ceiling and we now experience the consequences.

High food prices, low rental availability and ever-increasing rental and housing process are all the symptoms of this.

There are too many people on this planet there is not enough stuff for everyone on it.

Therefore, someone has to die and vacate the space and resourses to the rest.

It is does not particularly matter who will die and how. However, they have to die.

In poetic terms Grim Reaper has to be paid his due.

Even one of the American Founding Father and President once said that "Tree of Liberty Must Be Refreshed With the Blood of Patriots and Tyrants"

Did Thomas Jefferson Say the Tree of Liberty Must Be Refreshed 'With the Blood of Patriots and Tyrants'? | Snopes.com

Aztecs

Back in the days Aztecs used to have a particular religion.

According to their myth Nahuatl gods hold humanity in ransom and demand constant human sacrifices in order to avert end of the world.

So, Aztecs went to war to kill their enemies as a sacrifice to their gods and if they could not, they sacrificed some of their own people.

Principle was the certain number of people needed to be offered to the Grim Reaper.

When Spanish conquered Aztecs they converted them Christianity and Aztec religion now often used as an example of how cruel and primitive pagan believes can be.

However, while Aztecs gods themselves are not real. Principle behind them is.

Aztecs could not understand real reasons behind these problems: things such as overpopulation, recourse scarcity and such. However, at least their leaders and priests could understand that excessive population will end up causing problems in the long run.

When there is too many people and not enough food then everyone will starve. Life would be miserable. The longer it will continue, the worse it is going to get. In practice it will be like the End of the World as described in their myth. Life will no longer be liveable or enjoyable.

Most importantly people will die anyway. Just from starvation. The Reaper will get his due, one way or another.

Middle Age

Back in Middle Ages before Americas were discovered by Columbus, Black Death (plague) regularly ravaged the entire continent and regularly fed Grim Reaper, sparing Europeans the necessity of delivering death with their own hands.

Black Death - Wikipedia

Black Death was the phenomenon that kept the population numbers within sustainable numbers on the continent.

In fact, until development of vaccine in the 18th century mortality on the continent was high even after discovery of the Americas.

Vaccine - Wikipedia

Spanish Latin America

Nowadays Latin America is often poor and desperate. Brazilian Favellas and Venezuelan crisis are its modern realities.

However, it was not always like that.

Back when Columbus Discovered Americas, it was a very rich land with untapped by European standards potential. Plenty of gold and silver as well as new unique recourses such as chocolate, cacao, tobacco and cotton.

Spanish were aware of areas of modern US and Canada, but just could not be bothered to settle there. Since up there was plain and boing and it was in the south where all the riches were.

South had gold and silver. Even crops grow better there in warm climate, and you can grow fruits that will not grow up north at all. Why bother with cold north?

And Spanish colonies of Latin America attracted lots of people who came to exploit these riches. Many stayed, their descendants, intermixed with locals and even imported Africans, are modern inhabitants.

It was so rich back them they will even bring in Africans to fully exploit it.

You can still see it in their colonial era architecture. There are not houses built by poor people. They are sophisticatedly decorated and clearly built by people who have plenty of surplus cash to splurge. They had them back in the days.

Then they reached their ceiling. Latin population became too large even for that fertile land to feed.

At first they thought that Spanish Crown takes too much from them. Bolivar led them in War of Independence. They became free and independent republics who all thrive now who are poor and misrable and people from there sometimes emigrate back to Spain.

Now they experiment with socialism and believe US exploits them.

All of that is nonsence.

Overpopulation it the cause of all these ills.

It is economy, stupid.

The USA and Australia

However Reaper's due could still be delaied. North American and Australian lands were still awailable for settlement. Once they run out of better options they went for what is left.

If you tell a person in 1700 that life in Hudson Bay is better than in Orinoco delta or Lake Maracaibo, he would laugh hard and think you are insane. Yet 300 years later it is out reality.

Back in the days Dutch opted to keep what is now Suriname and hand over what is modern New York to the Brits. Nowadays New York is huge and rich. No one ever heard of Suriname.

So, until they run out of the free land in modern US and Canada by the end of the 19th century, we still could avoid major wars.

During 19th century the US absorbed surplus of continental population.

At the base of Statue of Libery is it written: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."

That is a reference to the role the US used to play in the world. Via New York countless migrants came to the US and travelled further west to settle untapped lands in the west.

Manifest destiny - Wikipedia

As century progressed areas to the west of the original 13 states were settles with migrants. As these areas become populated enough, they stopped being territories and became states, admitted to the union.

However, at the turn of the century they finally reached the ocean on the other end of the US.

Fist California and then Arizona finally became states. There were no more free unsettled land anywhere further west or elsewhere.

Arizona became a last mainland 48th state of the US in 1912. Two years later began WW I.

World Wars

After Arizona became a state further surplus of people had nowhere to go and it had to be exterminated. Thus, WW I have started.

It is called Great War. Lots of people have died then. However, at the end of it all, once Reaper got his due, we got happy and affluent roaring 20s, Gilded Age with jazz, fancy Art Deco Art and other cool stuff.

Population grew again and that in turn culminated with Great Depression of the 30s, poverty, suicides and universal misery.

They wanted to avoid war during the 30s with all their desperate misguided dedication. Just like they desperately try to stop COVID nowadays. That only led to Stalinist Repressions, Holodomor and general raise of authoritarianism. Holodomor - Wikipedia

However, they could not do so.

WW II have happened anyway.

Because it was delayed it was even Greater than the first one. It lasted longer and killed much more. Some fighting, like against Baltic Forest Brothers and Ukrainian Insurgent Army continued until 1954

The WW II have not started only because Hitler and Nazi are evil. People who think there would be no war if there was no Hitler are naive beyond any reason. There would just be someone else to start a war.

WW II killed enough and that allowed for another peaceful period.

Then Green Revolution kicked in and that allowed easy and happy 60s boomers love so much.

Conclusion

However now we reached another ceiling and Reaper has to be paid to avert pain and misery of austerity that will end up killing people anyway.

And we already have a solution.

COVID.

Instead of supressing it, we should embrace it.

Government special forces can spread the virus discreetly to infect the population, cull the numbers, pay the Reaper his due and finally allow us to stop surviving and start living.

So, embrace Corona-chan and let her pay the Reaper his due and fix the world for us.

On Viletta Nu and Chigusa

As Chigusa without her normal memories she is nice gentle and very likable woman.

As Viletta Nu she is she is selfish and rather ruthless woman who just wants to advance towards wealth, status and power. Kind of female Tamaki.

Her intelligence levels are patchy though.

On one hand she was smart enough to investigate on her own what have happened during the Shinjiku Ghetto incident. People who were geassed by Lelouch's geass normally have no memory of what were they doing under geass effects. They are merely left with results of their actions. She loosely remembered the last thing she saw before being geassed was a student and she cleverly used that as a lead to get to Lelouch and almost earned herself a promotion for capturing Zero.

On the other hand no one in Britannia knew about her and Oghi so she could have just keep it silent about him. It would be stupid to risk your life to assassinate him.

Also as Viletta she kind of lacks femininity. Not sure is she can be like Chigusa even with her memories intact.

Another issue with her is that it is hard to trust her. She is a kind of person who will lie and betray anyone for her advantage. There has to be something about her relationship with you that can convince you she will not backstab you.

Well, I guess other women can backstab you too. So you need something on them to trust them.

What I like about Yennefer of Vengeberg and what she, TrueHellDei and Rikka of the Wicked Eye have in common.

I only played Witcher games and did not read the book, so I only know the game version of Yennefer.

Many other characters in the game do describe her as problematic, spoiled and insufferable. Particularly Vesemir. Perhaps when she deals with them, she indeed is. However, their problems with her are of no concern to me.

However, she is actually very attentive and considerate to Geralt. For example, she remembers that he does not like portals and always goes great length to avoid using them no matter how inconvenient it could get for her.

I very much can only like a woman who can show a similar level concern for my preferences. I like it when they are only super nice to me and me alone.

There is one more thing about Yeni that I like. Once she told Geralt that she wants to run away from all this mess in the world to live together an idyllic life, just two of them.

That is what I like. I too want to run away from the stupid shit this world is and live my life on a something like a Caribbean Island paradise or a Technogenic Utopia (A Caribbean Island Technogenic Utopia Paradise), with the kind of women who meets my expectations. The only thing that is better is a harem full of women who meet my expectations.

This is a fundamental issue as it shows the common understanding of what good life is and desire to achieve it.

In this regard Yeni is similar to Rikka who her Vanishment This World. Though Yeni surely can make it vanish better than Rikka, but both want it to vanish.

I cannot tolerate women whose idea of idyllic life is different from this. Like if she cares for her parents, or her friends or social approval, or just seeks more excitement from the world. That is just not my thing. Period.

I particularly hate people who want approval of a broader society as it reminds me of the reasons, I hate my parents.

She has to be nice and friendly to me alone and hostile towards the world, as if desiring to protect me and herself from it. Yeni can do it, TrueHellDei can do it.

Absolutely not the other way around like my parents were.

I however can understand the desire to turn the entire world into a Carribean island paradise. I myself want to do something like that. A Caribbean Island Technogenic Utopia Paradise Revolution

I want to start a global revolution to turn the world into a Caribbean Island Technogenic Utopia Paradise.

Also, I love Yeni's fondness for black clothes as well as that black neck band.

Finally, Rikka and True for comparison.

Rikka wears black and dark violet when she is not in her uniform.

True also has great fondness of black, grey and dark violet.

Writing on the Wall

Writing on the Wall it the song that reflects on issues of our current era. The privileged dinosaurs in power do nothing but zealously guard their grip on society, while humanity rots and decays.

People starve and dying, they rot but powerful do not care. Old people drain life from young to restore their own youth. Clown like entertainers keep people distracted. Guards protect privileged from masses.

The song has happy ending, where Samurai Eddy interferes to kill the evildoers and save people from a conspiracy of powerful elites. He gives the couple the apple of knowledge as he drives them away.

This song is so overdue, we need someone like Eddy to save us from the corrupt elites and overbreeding.

On Leila Malcal and Julius Kingsley

I do not particularly like her.

However, it is not so much Leila herself a bad person so much is how the show generally revolves around her. She is kind of a Mary Sue.

Incompetent commanding officer in the very beginning is used to justify her taking control of the Wyvern. So that is does not look like she craves to be in power or enjoys using it.

When Ioannes kind of bullies her at the party but Akito stops him. In episode 1 Ioannes is shown to just treat it as marriage of convenience but in episode 3 he instead shows some concern for her. Inconsistent writing here.

Akito protects her from Ioannes and from whatever else.

Overall, she basically has whatever she wants. Lives in nice large room like some princess and most of Wyvern personnel admires her.

Show is named after Akito but in reality, he is treated as a support cast to Leila. A deus ex machina to solve her problems and advance her aims.

Unlike Lil Mayer she does have a lot of redeeming qualities, she treats Japanese well and well as knows to behave like a subservient woman, so I do not hate her per se.

However, I am not like Akito or other male cast members of this spinoff show. Well other than Julius Kingsley, who is Lelouch from the Hangyaku no Lelouch actually. After the end of the first season of Hangyaku no Lelouch Charles used his geass on Lelouch to erase his memories and make him think he is Julian Kinglsley instead.

Shin Hyuga actually manages to make Lelouch original memories to resurface, and that caused that mental breakdown in ep 3.

Kingsley however is somewhat different from the Lelouch of Hangyaku no Lelouch, particularly when it comes to ideology he professes. He also somewhat more brash and less smart than the original. However other than that he is Lelouch.

That said I watched only first 3 episodes so far so I am not sure if something will change in the last two episodes. I plan to complete it eventually.

Difference Between Charles and Lelouch

Charles is well written character that is a very fitting antagonist.

However, there is even less reasons to excuse him than Suzaku. Suzaku is naïve idiot driven by his life saving values and his guilt.

Charles not only treats people like chess pieces and willing to sacrifice them for personal gain (same as Schneizel and Lelouch), but even his ideology is human hating. He just lets the jungle law play out without interfering at all. He does not care to save or protect even his children or wife. Not only that he does not interfere, but he also actually believes that those who are weaker deserve to lose, suffer and die.

In contrast Lelouch actually wants to make world a better, nicer and gentler place. He may be uses people like chess pieces and lied that he does it for Nunnally. However, he wants to see world being better then what he saw growing up. To make sure the same cruelty will not repeat itself. He is doing if for himself may be, but also for all other people out there. They all will benefit from it.

Why Yin from Darker than Black and doll type of Girl Appeals to me.

Yin is called a doll, but that is a type of a human in the show. Dolls do not have independent will or feelings. They are emotionless. Things I do find appealing in women.

If you want a kind of deconstruction show that explains why that appeals to men. Then I can recommend you Revolutionary Girl Utena

There Anthy Himemia the Rose Bride, too has no independent will or feelings and does anything the person she is currently engaged wants.

In Utena they regularly hold duels to determine who controls the Rose Bride. However, it is not just a ceremony or an empty rule to follow, even if there are some directions for that. Duelists participate because they actually want her for one reason or the other. Men like her romantically or sexually, Women in contrast are frustrated with her appeal to men but fight over her as well. Some hope to displace her, others have more nuanced reasons.

Wakaba's relationship with Saionji and Kozue's relationship with Miki did not work out because they are not like Anthy. They just do not understand how it is done and could not win despite their efforts. Both of these men wanted Anthy and a different type of girl just does not work for them.

Anthy does not show it openly, but she is kind of aware of her appeal to men and exploits it in a subtle way. Kind of seducing them with her emotionless and will-less docility. That works and they end up fighting the current owner of the Rose Bride to make her theirs instead.

That works in real life too. TrueHellDei had that kind of appeal and that attracted a lot of people to her. If you were there on AnimeCrazy back, then you could have seen how a number of people were constantly trying to win her over.

That is also the reason Asian, particularly Japanese and Thai, girls have that much appeal. Maybe it is so called 'development' or 'education' that ruins women. More primitive types are just naturally attractive and more 'developed' girls just lose this appeal. Some lose it forever. That said I am not sure if say Japanese deliberately cultivate that kind of docile obedient behaviour in their women or their girls are just naturally like that.

What would make a girl like Anthy or Yin?

Some people call Revolutionary Girl Utena a female equivalent of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I personally find only Utena relevant and meaningful psychologically.

That said, since Anthy is manipulative, or maybe because there are too many fights over her, I much prefer Yin from Darker than Black.

Darker than Black just showcases that kind of girl rather well without trying to explain why it works. So Yin makes for a much better example.

The above is also a reason I want sex bots to develop as fast as possible.

An obedient and fully programmable sexbot robot girl would be very desirable to have. That way I can make her be and behave exactly as I want her to be.

That kind of sexbot would be much better than most women out there. Feminism really ruined them.

Women should instead strive to be more like Yin behavior wise to be likable.

I final word here is while I like the kind of women like CC who can actually help me with their intelligence. If her intelligence type is different from CC they I would rather have a will-less emotionless doll like Yin, of even Ikaros, she has similar personality to Yin.

What I like About Anime And How I Rate it.

My taste in anime is so unusual because I am very smart and intellectual, and my world view is unusual as well. I see some of these shows differently from other people.

I like either shows where everything is perfectly idyllic and everyone is very nice GuP, Bofuri, Gochiusa, K-On!, Overlord, some of the isekai.

Shows I want to be in, perhaps. Though that is a little more complex.

Or very dark shows where I can relate to characters and their experiences: Code Geass, Black Lagoon, Elfen Lied, Watamote, Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji. Revolutionary Girl Utena, Jigoku Shoujou

They give me sense that someone understands me and my problems.

Also, I like comedies if they can make me laugh, like Gintama, Nichijou and Excel Saga.

I do not like shows where I cannot relate to characters. That have woman types I hate. Where they just doing stuff or going wild out of boredom for no reason at all. Ergo Proxy, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Guilty Crown, Samurai Champloo.

How I rate anime

I judge on summary of experience.

10 Greatest of them all. Only Code Geass earned it, see my review to know why.

9 Exceptional and special in some particular way, see detains in my reviews, very tldi

8 Great and enjoyable shows that I can recommend for pure entertainment purposes.

7 Not as great but good shows that I can recommend.

6 Has some flaws by alright.

5 Nothing bad nothing good, or a balance of bad and good

4 3 Bad, just bad

2 1 Stuff that exceptionally annoys me for various reasons.

All cases would be considered individually without summary judgement.

I judge based on:

like/not like (do I find characters and setting appealing, if char a girl, then often but not always if I want her as my lover)

interesting/not interesting (am I curious about it, do I want to know what will happen)

can relate/cannot relate (Does it makes sense to me. Are characters just do the opposite of what I would have done in their place or wanted them to do)

deep and profound/shallow (this is the most complex criteria, since I know literary analysis I can get more out of some shows, I often give them 9 and 10 in my list, though some are 7 and 6)

No special bonuses for minor stuff. Just quality of art or music cannot fix failures in the above criteria. If anything, I can get music separately and listen to it without the show.

Well minor redeeming qualities can lift anime from 1 to 2.

10 and 9 reserved to exceptional in some particular way shows. There is no other way to reward or note them otherwise.

8 is maximum for normal show, therefore.

There are couple of exceptions to that rule mostly for intellectual and complicated shows such as Serial Experiments Lain, Revolutionary Girl Utena or Infinite Ryvius.

In simple directive terms:

10-7 watch

6-5 possibly watch as well.

4-1 do not watch.

Why Code Geass Will Remain Forever Popular

Code Geass and Lelouch are popular and will stay popular just like Che Guevara, US Founding Fathers and Napoleon.

Simply because fight for social justice (not the 'woke' type) will always resonate with people.

People do not want to be 3rd class citizens and serve the lucky privileged. That simple fact caused American, French and Russian Revolutions. That simple fact Caused Occupy Protests and other such movements around the globe.

Code Geass simply reflect this simple obvious truth.

As much as privileged assholes wish people under them were like Tanjiro who content to serve forever, reality is that they are like Lelouch and the Black Knights.

This simple fact will never push Code Geass from its pedestal. For it is an eternal tale of fight for freedom.

We shall never be slaves.

Why Girls und Panzer is the Best Entry Anime for a Beginner

Girls und Panzer is the best entry show.

It has all anime has to offer. Almost like a sample board with small pieces of every possible flavor.

However nothing of it goes over the top to ruin the impression. It is very inoffensive as well. Which makes it perfect entry level show for a newcomer who never watched anime before.

It has good and sensible by western standards plot that would not make people go WTF on it. Miho's conflict with her family as well as Oorai girls desire to save their school by pulling senshado team by bootstraps makes a lot of sense. You can parallel wean and small Oorai taking on more pro senshado schools to small and weak Rebel Alliance in StarWars fighting against big and powerful Galactic Empire. You can find Hollywood shows with stories' even closer to that of GuP.

It has some crazy ideas like schools on aircraft carriers, but they are not over the top to give uninitiated people WTF.

It has all possible types of anime waifus, They have hobbies and that would make then relatable for a western viewer. So everyone can find a girl they can like from the cast. None of them are too repulsive to people who are not into that type of girl, so no one will quit over the cast problems. Some people hate even Albedo from Overlord, that would be a complete shocker for them if they see Asuka.

It has small slice of life episodes mixed in the main plot, so people can see that aspect of anime without getting bored due to lack of plot or anything happening.

After they finish GuP, you can recommend them something else based on what they liked or did not liked in it.

On Shirley's Death

Shirley death is very tragic. However, it also makes her character much more likable. What she said in the very end just before she died really make me like her.

It is sad that she did not admit she loved him this much until the very end. Best love confession a girl could make ever. It is so desperate and so complete. You can believe she would do anything for him. You can't help love her back kind of and take her on that offer.

Before that scene, her confused attitude and desire to stop him from skipping classes was kind of annoying.

I want to clarify here that it is not her death in itself that made her better person, but the kind of resolution she came to immediately before her death. The things she said to Rolo and to Lelouch himself afterwards.

She finally made her mind to be with him and follow him wherever. That is how a girl should be. Girls are meant to follow obey and serve the man they love. That is the kind of girl I want. It is great that Shirley could become like that at least at the very end.

After that moment I could like Shirley and morn her death.

It is sad that she told it the wrong person (Rolo) though. She could become a useful member of the Black Knights.

More on what made Shirley Change

I think that mall incident where Lelouch and Suzaku caught her I would say she will be more understanding and accepting of Lelouch. That experience really changed her. She started see Lelouch differently as she understood that he is not just a carefree playboy as people make him out to be but has plenty of hardships of his own.

The things she told him before she died shows how much she changed and how much she finally understood and accepted him.

That could have been beginning of the very new Shirley, but Rolo killed her.

More on Why Suzaku Later Joined Lelouch

Comparison between Lelouch and Suzaku is not about who is right or wrong, but rather about different values and principles.

Both of them live and do things in accordance with their values. Both of them want different outcomes.

Lelouch is villain according to Suzaku values. Lelouch could not care less if he is considered villain.

Suzaku is an idiot according to Lelouch values. Suzaku in turn could not care less if he is considered idiot.

Ultimately Suzaku is kind of person who wants to protect lives no matter what. That is why he serves the system and opposes any insurgency. Due to believe that war takes lives so it is bad and must be stopped no matter what.

By the end of R2 even he realized that protecting the system and opposing war does not guarantee saving lives.

That Lelouch and Black Knights are also a product of the Brittanian system. They are natural reaction to what Charles and Brittania was doing. They "Reality's answer to you." as Lelouch put it during the C-World Ragnarök Connection episode (20 or 21). They are the result of cruelty that Charles showed to Lelouch and the Japanese.

Later Suzaku too realised that just eliminating Zero and Black Knights would not address the fundamental issues in the system or reality that created them in the first place. Without Zero there will be some other rebel leader to lead them against Brittania.

Thus, essentially letting Lelouch or Zero rule and fix the system is the only way forward that can actually end the fighting and save lives.

Suzaku and people like him are hard for someone like me to understand, so I could not fully recreate his reasoning in siding with Lelouch until recently. I said they made some sort of deal. Anime did not give us any details unfortunately.

It is the same with our real world. Increase in crime is a reaction to austerity. Alt-right and cruel 'women exploiting' porn is a reaction to feminism. Reality answer to the bullshit they had done in 2008. That will only get worse unless they change.

In history there are similar examples. For example, Hitler and Nazi party only have to power as a reaction to the Great Depression and Economic Crisis or 1929. They would have been a footnote in history if economy did not collapse in 1929.

KanColle Review

Overall Rating 7.0 out of 10 - Good

I recommend watching.

My shipfu is the best shipfu.

'Not Hoteru, Hoteeeel'

It is one the anime that make girls better and more likable in the men's eyes.

It has both plenty of diverse waifu material as well as rather interesting plot with battles and such. Other than that, has a little bit of everything: slice of life mixed with action and character development. It never gets samey.

On somewhat negative note is perhaps choice of the main three characters. Fubuki is kind of nothing too special. Yuudachi only has Poi gimmick going for her and gets less likable after remodeling. I do not like Mitsuki at all. If not for that I would have given it 8.

Main trio is not that important overall though. Show gives plenty of development and screen time to other shipfus so you will likely find one or several ones to you liking.

It has nice and kind Haruna, Haguro and Jintsu as well as sexy dressed Shimakaze.

Destroyer group 6 are also nice and get 1 full episode dedicated to them among other things.

Overall it is not perfect, but certainly decent and entertaining enough show, that I can recommend to anyone.

.hack//Sign Review

Overall Rating 8.0 out of 10 - Very Good and Profound with few flaws.

I recommend watching.

It is kind of a hybrid between SEL and SAO or your average isekai. It has both. A little bit of insight into psychology and nature of the medium, though it does not go as deep as SEL. As well as pure entertainment value of an isekai.

I kind of deals with reasons of why people play games and how these mediums changes society. This handled in well integrated, easy to digest way.

Its characters are diverse and I think anyone will find someone likable and relatable. I personally could relate to Tsukasa to the extend.

Story often revolves around mysteries that surround Tsukasa. There are a lot of strange and abnormal things that surround him and that attracts various other characters. Some blame these on him and want to stop him, others just curious. Some however do not believe it is Tsukasa's fault and want to help him instead.

Tsukasa is rather strange and unconventional person, who does not inspire trust in people. He also does not understands why any or this happening to him or why he has any special powers.

It takes other characters a lot of time to unravel this mystery, that actually goes all the way to he creator of the MMO they are playing as well as the Game itself, that obtained consciousness and acts on its own volution. The game intends to trap Tsukasa and prevents him from logging out.

Game is rather faithful to some of the video game concepts. Despite some errors here and there, like there is no saving in MMO, only in single player games. I still think actual gamers will find it well crafted and faithful to the feel of vide game.

It has rather unique architecture and overall art style. I definitely noticed how it inspired some of the design of buildings of Prince of Persia 2008. The World definitely a very interesting place to explore.

You can feel that creators had some very lofty ideas, but were somewhat constrained by budget. For now we could only imagine how awesome it could have turned out to be, if they had the same budget for art as Demon Slayer or Studio Ghibli. Hopefully we will get a remaster.

One interesting and important metaphor is Subaruchin and this gigantic army of [s]While[/s] Crimson Knights, that guard her. They say they keep order in the world but they simply use it as an excuse to go against any independent player like Tsukasa. They are just like IRL White Knights who 'protect' girls from so called bad guys, but in reality just try to force their dogma everyone else. IRL Subaruchins would not be able to find sex unless they could disband the Knights.

One sad thing about it is that ending is kind of disappointing. Did it meant to just represent that Tsukasa finally logged out?

Overall, I can recommend it for thinking people who liked SEL, to all true gamers, to people who like unconventional anime as well as for everyone else, since it is a rare and interesting show.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Review

Overall Rating 7.0 out of 10 - Good

I recommend watching.

<Crazy fangirls scream unintelligible mad praise of Kamina, like banshees.>

I am not a fan nor a girl, so I can give somewhat balanced review here.

It is not bad. Some of it is kind of crazy and silly, like face mechas or beast men. Or how mechas work on sheer will and guts. or Phallic design of the main ship.

However, it has good as well. Rather interesting and well written story with couple of unique plot twists. Definitely more on unusual side of things.

Characters are diverse, some better than the rest. The good thing about then is that the way they act and think does make sense, at least for me.

Both Kamina and Simon are well written. Kamina kind of reminds me of one of my friends. He is half Kamina, half Gintoki.

I guess I have some parallels with Simon, though not that much.

Overall, it is rather unconventional anime, much unlike others. I can recommend it to fans of action, girls looking for over the top manliness as well as to people who want to see something unconvetional.

Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch Review

Overall Rating 7.0 out of 10 - Flawed, but still likable standalone sequel for Code Geass

I recommend watching.

I particularly did not want to see any sequels to Code Geass. The way it ended in Zero Requiem was a perfect conclusion. Anything further would just ruin this very close to my heart story. A perfectly complete story with nothing more to add.

However curiosity eventually got the upper hand I watched it. So that is what I think about it:

It is flawed in many ways, yet there is something that gives the same feel as the is original. May be because CC is just as good as I remembered her. She is as wonderful as ever. She always cares for him regardless, she is the best.

May be with exception of that scene inside 2 seat knightmare, that was supposed to be a homage to the similar scene at the end of 1st season of the original.

Because of CC this standalone sequel does somewhat warms my heart, kind of like leftover hot coals when fire got extinguished, but still: warm, 'with warmth and tenderness from the bottom of your heart'.

As for bad:

Lelouch should have lost his Geass during Zero Requiem, considering CC lost hers after nun killed her in that flashback and activated her Code of Immortality, Charles also probably lost his Geass when his code got activated. Here Lelouch has Geass just as before. He has Code of Immortality as well, they did not forgot that.

Overall Lelouch seemed more guilt ridden than he should have been. He was not the type to feel much guilt, especially by the end of R2. Nor is he as willing to enslave people as he did at the end of R2.

Also Shirley is alive, a clear retcon here. I did liked how she died in R2, kind of made her character much more likable in my eyes. Not sure what to think of that retcon.

Overall this whole new world that Lelouch created, seemed somewhat off as well. Well, they did not made any major mistakes: Suzaku is Zero, Nunnaly is Empress, UFN is world government. However it feels slightly off, as in that glass metaphor from the original.

Kind of like someone with a different vision end up building it from the ground zero that Lelouch had left at the end of Zero Requiem.

The fact that this future world did not turned out a utopia is also kind of underwhelming.

Well overall it is not too bad of a show. It has some good moments here and there and overall fun to watch. However you can't call it a proper sequel or even an epilogue to the original. It is more of a what if kind of story.

And CC saves even this one.

Black Summoner Review

Overall Rating 7 out of 10 - Rather Simple but Good, Well Designed isekai

I recommend watching.

This is one of the better isekai. It has just a few minor flaws, but overall is very entertaining and fun to watch.

Main character is a unique take on a Warlock class from WoW. Except he is kind of a good Summoner, more of a Mage/Hunter/Warlock hybrid.

He has a harem of several cute waifu material girls. I personally like Efil but if you are into a different type then Mel, Sera or Rion will probably work for you.

Story is somewhat interesting, not as good as Tokyo Ghoul and far from any show I rank, 8 or above, but also not entirely messed up like Futoku Guild, Akiba Maid Wars or Harem in Labyrinth. It has interesting plot twists here and there to keep your entertained even if just waifu harem isekai fact is not enough for you to watch it.

Overall, it is one of the better shows of the current era. It is light, gentle, friendly and inoffensive. I can recommend it to anyone.

Tokyo Ghoul √A Review

Overall Rating 6.6 out of 10 - Good on Average: at times better at times worse

I would still recommend watching.

Sequel to the original Tokyo Ghoul that takes the story from there.

Watch the original and read my review of that one before starting with this one. There will be spoilers to the original Tokyo Ghoul

If previous one was occasionally hard to watch, but somehow left a sense of hope for further development. It was clear that author did not intent to just leave it at just that and plans to take story into a new field. Just like slavery period for Captain Blood was but a prelude to his Pirate Captainship and audacious Pirate life, which what the story was really about. Kaneki going white haired almost felt like that moment when Blood and his crew finally captured Cinco Llagas. From there they defied both Spanish, British, French and rival pirates and became legendary pirate crew of the Caribbean, who pulled off shit, others could not even dream of.

However Tokyo Ghoul does not take story into the same direction. Ultimately Kaneki did not become like Captain Blood. While early episodes of A Root still leaves room for that kind of development, later it clearly veers off that path. In fact if conclusion to the original leaves it open ended, conclusion to A Root kind of closes off these possibilities.

Fundamentally this show enjoys wallowing in guilt. Most characters suffer from guilt and even hurt themselves out of this feeling. As well as out their desire to be normal, to be human.

Most characters are driven towards protecting someone or preserving this pseudo normal 'human' lifestyle they have. What I have called Anteiku logic and principle in my review of the original. They are ghouls, but they want to be normal humans. So they do as much as they can to keep 'normal' human life.

Out of the characters only Ayato seemed fully embraced ghoul-ness and went of to create a world for ghouls by ghouls. I thought Aogiri was like that as well. To not spoil the A Root ending I would not tell much on how Aogiri really ended up.

Generally Ayato is probably the most relatable to me character in this story. Though by the end of A Root I am not sure really.

Ideology and values aside this show is not too bad.

Battles are engaging, though they become repetitive close to the end of A Root, they are still fresh enough in the middle.

Plot does a good job engaging curiosity. You just want to know what will happen next and keep watching.

Thus I can at least recommend watching it once. May be. It does leave a sense of disappointment at the end.

Tokyo Ghoul Review

Overall Rating 6.4 out of 10 - Well Written Story with some irritating aspects

I would still recommend watching.

This is actually a very well written show with good battles, engaging plot twists and good pacing. If not for pacificist protagonist too obsessed with being human and overall Anteiku way of looking at things, I would have given it 8. At this stage I cannot say how much I can agree with Aogiri, may be a lot, may be not. If I was a ghoul I would support a world of ghoul supremacy, but not sure what else Aogiri stands for. I am still watching A Square sequel.

Fortunately Tokyo Ghoul preaches and pushes its ways not as single-mindedly as say One Piece or Demon Slayer, it has more room for pluralism of judgement.

The show is interesting from psychological point of view. Ghouls live among the humans and look completely the same. However they can only eat human flesh to survive. Humans are afraid of these 'cannibal' ghouls and created an investigative agency to hunt down and exterminate them.

This puts ghouls at a dilemma of how to go about it. Some like Anteiku eat only/mostly humans who committed suicide and overall try to blend with human society as much as possible. Others like Aogiri strive upend the human order instead and make ghouls rule. However there are many individual ghouls not affiliated with any, who just do their own things. Sometimes they clash with each other or these two organizations.

Overall it is curious to watch, even if not a very pleasant experience at certain moments. It is as painful as Infinite Ryvius at times. Kind of hectic at others. Though unlike dry, sober and unapologetic Infinite Ryvius, Tokyo Ghoul brings in more diverse emotions into reasoning of characters. Arks not focused on Kaneki are better than the ones about him, I do not like it when people make him suffer.

It is one of these shows where I just want to know how it will ends. I want to know what will happen, kind of, no matter what.

Generally Tokyo Ghoul kind of blends and blurs a line between entertainment and seriousness. Unlike Code Geass that handles both well, in Tokyo Ghoul it is possible to get lost in worldview and morality of this show. A little world of caution, but I will recommended it overall. You can take on Infinite Ryvius as well and compare both.

C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control Review

Overall rating 6.8 out of 10 - Good with minor flaws

I recommend watching.

This show had really great potential, but only managed to scratch the surface of the problem. I can still recommend it, there is nothing better to address the economic crisis era of 10s.

This show is like a microcosm of the world created by Financial Crisis of the 2008. Half of the time it does well to depict it and the other half it falls flat on its face, as if authors not really understand economic terms and concepts well and misuse them half of the time.

That said core idea is between preservation of the old world and old order, personalized by Mikuni and his Guild and a fight for the future, personalized by Yoga. Yoga and Mikuni start out as good friends, both seem interested in saving the world. However when Yoga notices the adverse effects, Mikuni's actions have on the world, he ends up teaming up with his opponents.

There is a moral dilemma in preserving present vs creating future. Unfortunately the only future the show managed to show us is the children. That makes it too ambiguous as to what Mikuni and Yoga even fought for. How Yoga versions differs from Mikuni's in more concrete terms.

Overall I still recommend this show for everyone. It is one of its kind and defiantly worth your attention.

If economy is too complex for you I can give you another reason to watch it. Each entre of the Financial district has an asset he uses to  fight other entres. These assets are often cute waifu material girls who self-objectifying themselves.

Since I like to objectify women, I like who assets are handled in this show. So watch it for assets if for not other reason.

Arknights: Reimei Zensou Review

Overall Rating 7.0 out of 10 - Good show overall.

I recommend watching.

Half Life 2 with waifus.

There is nothing to hate about this show, which is good enough already by current standards.

Lots of waifu material girls. Amiya is cute and likable. Exusial is also not too bad. Others can swim someone else's boat more. But they all are chill. The only downside is that they are not as creatively dressed as Dolls Frontline waifus, but these bulky jackets make them practical enough. I cannot say I dislike their attires, I like them, but they could have been better.

As I mentioned before world in which it is set has Half Life 2 vibe to it. It is not the same world and plot is nothing alike, but it looks and feels much the same. Near empty ruined towns, peppered with futuristic installations and several high-tech groups fighting using ski-fi tech and flashy beam-like abilities called Arts.

Plot is not too engaging. It just goes somewhere, but never develops into anything of significance. One good trait here is that whatever fractions are doing makes logical sense and you would not feel wft most of the time. Reunion's cause makes most sense to me tbh.

Overall, I can recommend it to anyone. It is a good show overall. One regret is that it could have been better.

Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners Review

Overall rating 7.0 out of 10 - Mostly Good show with a nice story

I recommend watching.

Anime based on Cyberpunk 2077 video game. It it set in the same world, but has a separate story from the game, only few characters appear in both stories. Not only it is same techno world but story also has same melancholic/depressed feel to it.

It begins dubiously. I find it hard to relate to David. He is not a complete idiot/saint like Kanjiro to Eren, but he is still not like me. I do not share his enthusiasm, hot compare to mine temper, ethics of living for others, or following examples set by others. Fortunately these differences stopped being so pronounced as show progresses, or I just stopped paying attention to them so much.

Lucy is kind of likable. May be it was she who saved the show from me dropping it. I would not call her perfect, sometimes she is hard to deal with, but she also has lots of good qualities.

She is melancholic but not completely depressed either. She is cynical but has dreams.

She seems capable of understanding your feelings and relate to them. The kind of emotional support I need. We are on the same emotional wavelength I guess.

She also cares for Martinez and even willing to sacrifice her life for him. A very important quality I always value in women.

She looks cute as well. You might describe her looks sketchy, but it is good, cute, likable sketchy. Sexy.

Story overall interesting and has creative plot twists every now and then. It is also very sad overall. I would not go into too much details here as to not spoil it for you.

Overall I can recommend it for you. I is one of the better shows of this year.
