Hand Maid May Review. Expanded in 2024

Overall rating 7.2/10 - Good cozy likable harem anime, that shows how women should be.

I recommend watching.

That is actually a good example of how you do a harem anime. Take extra hints from DearS as well.

In this harem show all girls a cute, nice and likable. It is cinnamon-rolly thorough and through, quality stuff. Not even old animation can take away its cinnamon-nes.

This show has lackluster art and plot. It lacks clear story as well, around half of the show is just feeling screen time with some goofy comedy/action.

However, none of it matters in the slightest for the true purpose of this show. It's a male wish fulfillment. It has one average looking guy (who is Libra with 18/10/81 DoB) and plenty of differently likeable girls. Here we have a selection of girls (cyberdolls) that men actually like and want in their lives. No matter who is your favorite (my is May herself), the rest are also OK enough. Here we do not have insufferable snobs, like Rin or Asuka, that make men go gay or asexual.

In our modern feminism and gym-junkies infested world, we need this show more than ever. This shows what is good, just and right. What world should be. What women should be.

The story has IT bent too. In the future were men ended up curing feminism by building cyberdolls and programming them to be desirable to men.

The story protagonist gets one of such dolls and ends up having a lot of fun with her.

In fact, there is an interesting story with clever plot twists in this show, that is occasionally inserted in between the goofy comedy scenes that take half of the time.

Protagonist is very relatable to me. He is like I was in the past and to some extend still is. I am more like Lelouch, Gilgamesh and King Isley now. Kazuya is a power user who is good with computer hardware, just like I am is.

May herself is nice and likable deredere girl. To top it up she is maid and I am into maids. Other girls are rather likable too. At least no one really annoys me.

The show is a little cheesy at times but otherwise very likable.

I will recommend it to everyone.
