Overall Rating 6.0 out of 10 - Overall pleasant show with at least half good episodes
I recommend watching
All harem anime has one male MC and several different girls, each of different corresponding stereotype to appeal to different male viewers.
Nonetheless not all harem anime were made equal. In this regard, topic of this review, Hoshizora, favourably compares to Mashiroiro, that I reviewed a while back.
Unlike constant drama and women problems, that heroines of Mashiroiro pester male MC, Hoshizora is more relaxed and laid back. Characters spend a lot more time doing fun stuff like eating, going to gaming arcade, karaoke or beach. That is a lot more enjoyable to watch that women having emotional issues.
Hoshizora has two likable waifu material heroines: Ui and Madoka, but other girls are somewhat nicer on average. Even violent green head from Hoshizora is somewhat easier to tolerate to her red head equivalent from Mashiroiro.
Ui is sweet and her simplistic, friendly and cheerful personality makes it easy to love and trust her. Madoka is well mannered and shy, but sometimes hard to deal with, thus second place after Ui.
Episodes are mixed bag, some left rather sour aftertaste, like forest one, or sake shop girl, otherwise the final score would have been higher. A somewhat unique achievement, this show managed to get sport episode fun, by making women stuck in various compromising poses and sigh.
Overall, Hoshizora is a rather pleasant harem anime, it has its flaws, some episodes and characters are more likable than others. However, on the summary it's a pleasant show despite certain flaws.
